
LAHORE: Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Ijaz Butt said that despite criticizing the board, the Senate’s standing committee for sports is not authorized to dictate the cricket board and only the patron-in-chief of the PCB and the ministry for sports can do this job.Addressing a crowded news conference at the Gaddafi Stadium here on Wednesday, Ijaz Butt said that the PCB has no objection on the ICL players’ participation in domestic cricket but the ICC is bringing out strict laws in this regard on June 1.He said that Mohammad Asif is not facing any case in Dubai and the board committee would give its verdict by the end of this month. However, Asif would be available only after September 22 when his ban would be lifted.The chairman PBC said that he wants to get Javed Miandad’s services and any decision in this regard would be made in the meeting with Miandad.He said that the post of director-general has been created only for Miandad and no other person would be appointed at this position.Regarding the Senate’s standing committee for sports, Ijaz Butt said that the senators are unnecessarily criticizing the PCB and they are criticizing even those jobs which should have been appreciated.He said that the board did not provide any misleading information about its bank balance which has now gone up from Rs6.1 billion to Rs6.2 billion after getting some amount of TV rights.Ijaz Butt said that it is strange to note that the construction project of the Gaddafi Stadium far-end has reached from Rs160 million to Rs470 million and the former management has misled in this regard.He said that Salim Malik cannot be considered for any job due to ICC whereas the services of Sarfaraz Nawaz, Wasim Akram and Waqar Younus would be acquired for fast bowlers hunt.
