Four killed, 16 injured in Peshawar blast

PESHAWAR: Atleast six people were killed while 16 others injured when a blast took place in a vehicle outside the house of a Union Councillor here on Tuesday.According to CCPO Peshawar, the vehicle was parked outside Union Councillor Faheem’s house. four people were killed on the spot while UC men gunned down two attackers when they tried to flee the scene.The injured were shifted to Lady Reading hospital where emergency has been declared. Police have cordoned off the entire area and started rescue work. Police said the blast damaged two outer walls of Faheem’s house and two neighbouring homes. According to sources, the blast could be a suicide attack.The vehicle had approximately 10 to 20 kilograms explosives, sources said.President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani strongly deplored the incident and vowed to bring the culprits, involved into the heinous crime, to justice.
